Solar Thermal Energy Demonstration

The Ministry has been implementing Solar Thermal Energy Demonstration Programme having the following components:

       Solar cooking:

    The Ministry provides financial support for procuring concentrating solar cookers and the promotional incentives for box type solar cookers.

       Special Demonstration and Pilot Projects:

    The financial support is provided for solar dryers (direct type and indirect type) and solar distillation systems for producing pure water (single basin type solar stills, high efficiency solar stills).  The eligible areas for getting the support from the Ministry under this programme are the villages, which have been electrified or to be electrified through conventional grid. 

       Demonstration Scheme for North-East, Islands, J&K and Sikkim

    The financial support is provided for solar water heating systems at sites of high visibility in the States/ UTs of the North-East, the Islands, Sikkim and Jammu & Kashmir.

      Solar Buildings Programme

    In order to promote energy efficient building designs based on the principles of solar architecture for rural houses in the villages, which are electrified or to be electrified through conventional grid through, the Ministry provides the financial support for training and education, demonstration and promotional activities.
